Damien Shell

Funeral Director/CEO/Licensed Insurance Agent

Damien C. Shell, a native of Winston-Salem, NC began his career in funeral service at the tender age of 16. Under the leadership of Carl, Christopher, Cedric, Edward, and the Russell Funeral Home family he began the journey of learning a sacred business. Damien began as laborer washing cars, setting cemetery equipment, and going on removals. He was brought through this teaching as the Russell’s were bought up at their earlier age.

While working he also was a student at Atkins A&T High School, where he served at SGA president for 3 years for the school. After graduating, he furthered his education at Winton-Salem State University majoring in Business Management.

After graduating in 2013, Damien became a licensed insurance producer and began working at Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina. There he was able to learn in a “corporate” setting involving the various changes of business and finance. Damien continued to work at Russell Funeral Home and began working with Perry J Brown Funeral Home under the direction of Charles E. Coote, Jr. in Greensboro, NC as well. In mid-2015, Damien went back to the funeral business full-time. He continuously worked and learned his gift in how to be a service professional to the bereaved but also had a desire to want to reciprocate that knowledge to others.

In 2018, Damien decided to further his education in being able to teach adults. He enrolled in North Carolina A&T State University, where he received his Master of Science Degree in Adult Education. While attending NCAT he also finished his studies in becoming a licensed funeral director. Combining his experience and education Damien saw fit that one day not only would he began a funeral business but also would make it his business to educated individuals wishing to pursue funeral service. He continues to perfect his craft and knowledge by continuous education and under funeral professionals such as Thomas Hildebrand and others.

With over 14 years of funeral service experience Damien has made it his mission to serve the people with grace, class, dignity, and most of all respectfully.

Damien is the son of Alvin Smith and Barbara J. Shell.
