Funeral Director & Embalmer
Damien C Shell, a native of Winston‑Salem, NC, began his funeral service career at age 16 under the mentorship of the Russell Funeral Home family. Starting with foundational tasks—washing cars, setting cemetery equipment, and assisting with removals—he learned early the values of service, humility, and professionalism.
A graduate of Atkins A&T High School and Winston‑Salem State University, Damien went on to become a licensed insurance producer and worked with Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, gaining valuable corporate and business experience. He continued serving families at Russell Funeral Home and Perry J. Brown Funeral Home before returning to funeral service full‑time in 2015.
In 2018, Damien earned a Master of Science in Adult Education from North Carolina A&T State University and completed his training as a licensed funeral director. With a passion for both service and teaching, he is committed to caring for families and educating future funeral service professionals.
With more than 18 years of experience, Damien serves with dignity, compassion, and professionalism. He is a Licensed Funeral Director, Embalmer, Insurance Agent, and Adjunct Professor at FINE Mortuary College.
Damien is married to Tamyka Shell.
