William Ervin Jones Sr., son of Rev. Henry D. Jones and Estelle Ford Jones was born January 1, 1947, in Columbus County. He entered eternal rest on July 11th, 2024, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC after an extended period of illness.
William attended Central High School. He was employed at National Spinning and worked for many years with Brown & Root Inc. as a certified welder.
He enjoyed being outdoors, tinkering around in the yard and painting. He did not say much but when he did you can best believe he left you laughing with his quirky sense of humor. He was a humble guy and was always kind to others and helped whenever needed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings: James, Margie, Seymore, Maggie, Lorraine, Janet, Lawrence and Henry Jr.
He leaves to cherish precious memories, his wife, Ellen Jones of Roxboro, NC: sons Nathan Maultsby of Stuttgart Germany, Ervin Jones Jr (Tracy) of Oklahoma City, Ok; daughters, Patricia Parker of Whiteville and Margie Mack (Clifton) of Winston Salem, NC; sisters, Catherine Pierce, Evangelist Edith Faye Canty and Sarah Shipman (Tony) of Whiteville, NC; stepchildren, Dee Drakes (Leroy), Alexander Smith, Sherion Bradsher, Michelle Purcell (Paul) and Douglas L. Bradsher; sister n laws, Reather Mae Jones, Michelle Simms, Mable Gentry, Shirley Paylor (Tezell), Elizabeth Hughes; brother n laws, Acie Singletary, William McClairy; 7 grandchildren, 6 great grands, a special niece Stella Jones and nephew Mitchell Jones who were reared in the home along with William and his siblings and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
