Susan Carol Good Burroughs, a devoted mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of Christ, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was born on December 13, 1946, in Richland County, Illinois, to the late Harold and Madge Good.

Susan graduated from high school and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Olney Central College in Olney, Illinois. She dedicated her career to medical nursing, caring for patients with a gentle spirit and a deep commitment to helping others return to health. Her compassionate nature and steady presence brought comfort to countless individuals during their recovery and healing.

A woman of many talents and joys, Susan loved sewing, quilting, traveling—especially to the beach—and lifting her voice in song at church. She was an active and devoted member of New Harmony Church in Knoxville, Tennessee. Through the church’s “Team Jesus” ministry, she volunteered at veteran centers, retirement homes, nursing facilities, and anywhere she could share the love and gospel of Jesus Christ. Her life was a testament to service, kindness, and unwavering faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents of Richland County, Illinois.

Susan leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Cathi VanBrakle of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, and Eva Fitch and her husband, Bill Fitch, of Dayton, Ohio; her grandchildren Aydien James, Nathan Oliver, Daniel (Ariel) Persinger III and his daughter Rowan Persinger (Susan's great-granddaughter), Elani D. Fitch, Victoria K. Fitch, and Madison R. Fitch. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, her beloved church family, and many friends whose lives were touched by her warmth and generosity.

A service to honor Susan’s life will be held at a later date in Illinois.
