Larry Wilson Obituary

Larry Joe Wilson was born on March 14, 1958, in Iredell County, North Carolina, to Jessie Mae Chism and Joe Wilson, Jr.

Larry lived a life of faith, service, and love. He served faithfully at Greater ABBA Father’s Ministries, where he was a dedicated Deacon, a joyful member of the Praise Team, and a trusted driver of the church van. He stood as the right hand to Bishop Scottie White, always ready to support his pastor and his church family.

Known for his affectionate, caring, and compassionate nature, Larry had a gift for making others smile. He loved to talk “smack” in a playful, joking way that brought laughter to those around him. Though he did not have children of his own, he cherished and adored them, especially his nieces and nephews, who held a special place in his heart.

Larry was a man of many talents. He was a clothier with a sharp sense of style who loved to dress up, a skilled cook who delighted in preparing meals, and a devoted Carolina Panthers fan who cheered passionately for his team.

On November 27, 2025, Larry passed away at Wake Forest Medical Center, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and joy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Mae Chism and Joe Wilson, Jr.; his brothers, Johnny E. Griffin and Michel A. Wilson; and his sister, Monica Melissa Upson.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Wilson; his sisters, Pamela Mathis and Dianne Crawford; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will forever treasure his memory.
