Obituary
Henry Delano “Spanky” Williams Sr., 81, of Bassett, Virginia departed this life April 12,2025. He was born December 27, 1943, to the late Henry Edgar and Clora Mae Welch Williams. He was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church and a 1962 graduate of G.W. Carver High School in Fieldale, Virginia.
Spanky never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face. He met a lot of his friends through employment at Bassett Furniture Industries and Aramark, which led to him working the games at Wake Forest University, Lawrence Joel Coliseum and Bowman Gray Stadium.
Spanky was an avid fan of Wake Forest sports and NASCAR. He loved to collect coins, go fishing, bowling, and he enjoyed his time participating in Boy Scouts with his father. He loved music ESPECIALLY Tina Turner.
He is survived by countless beloved family members and friends. His daughters Tamika Hanna (Kenneth) and Yullanda Dickey (Howard) and son Henry Williams Jr. His sisters, Doris Moore (Herman) and Lois Jones (John). His grandchildren, Jasmine Williams (Darnell), Britt Hanna, A’maris Payne (Andre), Christian Hanna (Tomekia), Damien Williams, and Kamari Dickey.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter Chillisa Deneen Williams and sister Carol Jean Martin.
