Florence "CHUNK" Shell Obituary

Florence Elizabeth Shell affectionately known as “Aunt Chunk” was born April 17, 1950, in Laurens, SC to Robert and Bessie Shell. At an early age the Shell family relocated to Winston-Salem, NC where she attended local schools and graduated from Atkins High School. She furthered her education at Forsyth Technical Community College graduating with an associate degree in Business Administration.

“Aunt Chunk” career area spanned over 30 years of dedicated service with various companies in Forsyth County. She loved home healthcare and caring for the elderly as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Florence loved to worship with her church family at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Nathan Scovens. She was an active member of the Sunday School and Dance Ministries until her health began to decline, however she never lost her praise in the midst of it all. Although she did not bear any children of her own; she was a nurturing mother to many. Florence enjoyed creating delicious meals, most notably her banana pudding for her family, friends & neighborhood children. She was a skilled seamstress and a self-taught musician; most weekends were spent entertaining with cookouts, card games, Sunday dinners and good fellowship. She believed that laughter and soul food was nourishment for your spirit.
