Obituary
Mrs. Evelyn Hawkins Simmons was born on October 13, 1939, to Evelyn and Tilmon Hawkins in Winston-Salem North Carolina. She peacefully departed this life Saturday August 27, 2022.
She received her education from Dr. JP Cleary in Newark, N.J. and the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools graduating from the original Atkins High School. She continued her education by attending and graduating from Forsyth Technical Community College, receiving a degree in Early Childhood Education.
Her employment included teaching children and being an educator in the Forsyth County school System until her retirement.
Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her husband Henry Simmons Jr., parents Evelyn and Tilmon Hawkins and her brother, Charles Rufus Hawkins.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her extended family, sister in laws, Hattie Barnes, Dorothy Damon, Josephine Simmons, and Ruby Simmons; God sons, Taft ( Debora) Mack, Tobias (Sandra) Mack, and Clifton (Margie) Mack; and a host of nieces, nephews, God grandchildren, and a devoted friend Catherine Mack.
