Elizabeth Simon Obituary

Deaconess Elizabeth Butler Simon passed away January 19, 2025 at Bermuda Commons. She was born on February 20, 1942 in Lake City, South Carolina. Elizabeth graced the world with her presence as the cherished daughter of Rev. Eugene Butler, Sr. and Lerlean Welch.

At the young age of 18, she ventured to Winston-Salem, NC where she began a promising career as a dedicated childcare educator, nurturing the minds and hearts of countless children. Elizabeth's love for education mirrored her immense capacity for love, which she extended far and wide.

In 1963, she married the love of her life, Deacon Louis Simon, Jr. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, faith, and unconditional love. Elizabeth was not only a devoted wife, but also a devoted member of White Rock Baptist Church. A true servant of the Lord, Elizabeth lived her faith through her actions. She served as a Deaconess and later became the pastoral assistant to Pastor Cedric Crawford. Her melodious voice brought joy to the congregation as she sang in the choir, inspiring all who had the pleasure of hearing her.

Elizabeth's heart knew no boundaries; she was a compassionate caretaker and a loving grandmother who relished every moment spent with her grandchildren and family. Whether it was casting a line while fishing or sharing a family meal, she filled ordinary moments with warmth and love.

Known by many as a virtuous woman, Deaconess Elizabeth Butler Simon leaves behind a legacy of kindness, warmth, and unwavering faith. Her strength and devotion touched the lives of everyone she encountered, and she will forever be remembered for her unparalleled spirit and love. She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, a son Carl Simon and a daughter Katie Cameron.

She is survived by her beloved children Elizabeth A Simon, Korean (Paul) Feggins, Lewis Erick (Venessa) Simon and Gerald (Harriett) Cameron; grandchildren Karl Louis Williams, Tyran Simon, Chris’Shauna Feggins, Zaria Feggins, Erick J. Simon, Kayla Cameron, Krin Cameron and Dominique Cameron; a brother Rhett Butler; and a multitude of loving family members and friends whose lives were profoundly enriched by her presence.
