Doris Mazella Reid was born on July 12, 1959 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where she was raised by her loving parents, Aaron & Sarah Reid Sr. Doris left this world on February 11, 2025, at the age of 65.
Doris graduated from North Forsyth High School and spent many years working as a Nursing Assistant. Her dedication to helping others was evident in both her professional and personal life. She had a heart of gold and offered moral support to those around her, often becoming the pillar of strength for her family and friends.
Those who knew Doris will fondly remember her as a woman of many interests. She poured her creativity into arts and crafts, enjoyed cooking and baking, and found solace in nurturing the plants she loved so dearly. Music, especially gospel, resonated with her spirit, providing a soundtrack to her life filled with joy and laughter. Her sense of humor was infectious, and her ability to tell the truth with grace and wit endeared her to everyone she met.
Doris was preceded in death by her devoted parents and her brother, Aaron Reid Jr.
Left to cherish her memory are her three beloved children: Dwight Alexander Reid, Samuel Malik Grier, and Taalib-Din Khalil Grier, Sr. Doris took immense pride in her role as a mother, guiding her sons to become independent, strong, and compassionate men. Her love extended to her grandchildren: Dakoya Valentine, Daquasia Reid, Taalib-Din II, Ephriam, Ekon, Eli, Esias Greir, Lia Campbell, Adinus, Akilah, Taaliyha-Dinea Grier, and Valentine Reid, great-grandchildren: Rylee Brim, D’Lonni, and Kynd Hunter; siblings Sarah Reid, Ronzo (Jasmine) Reid, Claretta Ratliff, and Simmeral Reid-Murphy and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; a special Godson Roy T. Beck, and Godchild Iman Valentine .
