In Loving Memory of
Christopher Joel McThay Sr.
Sunrise: July 18, 1973 - Sunset: June 18, 2026
It is with profound sadness and heartfelt love that we announce the passing of Christopher Joel McThay Sr., age 52, who was born on July 18, 1973, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Christopher was the beloved son of Lincoln McThay and Lillie Burgess McThay. He was raised with strong family values and a vibrant spirit that would become his trademark throughout his life.
A proud graduate of Blanche Ely High School, Christopher distinguished himself as an outstanding football player. His athletic talent and dedication to the game led him to break numerous football records during his high school years. His success on the field earned him a football scholarship to attend Jersey State College, where he continued pursuing his passion for the sport.
Christopher was known and loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was truly the life of the party, bringing laughter, energy, and joy wherever he went. His infectious smile, charismatic personality, and remarkable dancing skills could light up any room.
A devoted fan of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Christopher enjoyed cheering for his favorite team and sharing his love of football with family and friends. More than anything, however, he cherished his family. He deeply loved his children and took great pride in their lives and accomplishments. He embraced life fully, valuing every moment, every friendship, and every opportunity to create lasting memories.
Christopher leaves behind to cherish his memory his three beloved children: Christopher Joel McThay Jr., Iyanii McKinny, and Ciiron Jastorm McThay; his precious granddaughter, Isla McThay; his brothers, Lincoln McThay III and Reginald McThay; along with a host of extended family members, dear friends, former teammates, classmates, and all who were blessed to know and love him.
Christopher’s legacy of love, laughter, strength, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind. Though he is no longer with us physically, his spirit will forever remain a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew him.
“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day.”
