Deaconess Carolyn Elizabeth Phillips was born on June 23, 1953, to Fred Glenn and Sarah Ruth Glenn McLauren in Winston-Salem, NC.
A proud graduate of Forbush High School, Carolyn furthered her education at High Point University, formerly High Point College, where she cultivated the skills that would lead her to a fulfilling career. Carolyn dedicated over three decades of her life to U.S. Airways, where her unwavering commitment to customer service touched the lives of countless travelers. After retirement, Carolyn loved taking care of her grandchildren and traveling.
Carolyn’s life was a testament to love, faith, and service. Her true passion, however, was the ministry she so lovingly embraced at the New Birth Worship Center. Her steadfast faith was demonstrated through her countless contributions as the head of public relations, started and chaired the scholarship program, and an enthusiastic teacher in the children's church. Carolyn's beautiful voice graced the Inspirational Choir and the Mass Choir, where she inspired those around her with her spiritual gifts. As an organizer of church fundraisers, Carolyn’s lively spirit and strong leadership cultivated a sense of community and camaraderie among church members, helping to support those in need and promote the joys of faith among all.
Carolyn, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and beloved servant of the Lord passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Jasmine Phillips and a sister Juanita Kimbrough.
Memories will be cherished by her husband William Phillips, Sr.; sons William (Tora) Lowe, Jr. and William (Tammy) Phillips; grandchildren Kaleb Lowe, Kendal Lowe and Tamyka (Damien) Shell; sisters in law Catherine P. Coates, Fannie Peeple and Treva P. Rainey and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
