Mr. Bernard Lorenzo Jones peacefully entered eternal rest on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center. Born on August 22, 1956, in Winston-Salem, NC, to the late Early Crutchfield and Barbara Jones. Bernard grew up with a heart for family, faith, and food. As a young boy, he attended Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with his mother, faithfully by her side until her health began to decline.
A proud graduate of Parkland High School, Bernard set out to serve his country, enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1975. It was there that he sharpened the cooking skills he had learned at home, turning his natural talent into a lifelong passion. Whether for one person or a crowd, Bernard found joy in preparing delicious meals that brought people together. His love for the culinary arts inspired him to further his education, earning multiple associate degrees in the field and continuing to perfect his craft over the years.
Bernard’s life was rich in relationships and love. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Barbara Jordan; one sister, Adrianna Jones; one brother, Donald Ray Jones; two nieces, Chauna Robinson and Yvonne “Trica” Jarrett; one aunt, Thelma Mays; and one uncle, Robert Capers.
Those blessed to have known Bernard will remember his generosity, humor, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on through his children: one son, Bernard Duncan (Delicia); three daughters, Shiketa Wright (Felton), Donna Jones of Winston-Salem, NC, and Aquila Roebuck of Lithonia, GA; his three brothers, Clarence Jones (Diane), Early Jones of Winston-Salem, NC, and Andrew Jones (Angela) of Fayetteville, NC; ten cherished grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Bernard also shared a beautiful bond of 40 years with his devoted companion, Ms. Debbie “Missy” Roebuck, who remained faithfully by his side through life’s many seasons.
Though Bernard’s chair at the table will be empty, his spirit, laughter, and the meals he lovingly prepared will forever warm the hearts of those who loved him.
