Mrs. Belvia Delores Nowlin Venson, was born August 28, 1953 to Barbara Jean Nowlin of Winston-Salem NC and Randall Kershaw of New York, New York. She departed this life on January 20, 2022.
Belvia, passionately known as Penny, was loved and cherished by family and friends throughout the community. She enjoyed attending church and watching sports on tv. She looked forward to spending time with her brother Willie Nowlin at Winston-Salem State football games each year. In her earlier years she loved to draw and shared her love as an artist throughout her home.
Penny worked as a formal employee at Forsyth Memorial Hospital for over 20 years. Her colleagues knew her as a kind compassionate soul, always willing to help others. During her last 10 years of her career she worked in the hospitality industry at Taco Bell and Graylyn Estate as laundry attendant.
Penny was a devoted mother and loved to love on people. Her sweet spirit and smile brighten every room she entered. Her love for God and those she encountered was visible to all who knew her. Penny also loved to sing, one of her favorite songs was “ I shall not be moved”. She was a God fearing woman of amazing strength and unwavering faith. Her favorite Bible verse, was John 3:16- “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that who ever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Penny is preceded in death by her father, Randall Kershaw; and brother Kenneth Cole.
She is survived by her mother Barbara Jean Nowlin, three children Rodrigueze Nowlin of Charlotte, North Carolina and Velma Renae (Ernest) White of Winston Salem, North Carolina and Michael (Lavonda) Nowlin of Augusta, Georgia, grandchildren; Donta Nowlin of Rochester New York, Quashan Young of Winston Salem, North Carolina, Rodrigueze Nowlin Jr. and Bryson Nowlin both of Charlotte North Carolina, Mishiya Nowlin of Greensboro, North Carolina, Aaliyah Lewis of Agusta, Georgia, Rashard Nowlin and Rylan Nowlin of Charlotte, North Carolina and one great granddaughter BreeAnn Nowlin of Charlotte, North Carolina; brothers Willie Alfonzo Nowlin, Lester (Henrietta) Nowlin, and Ronald Nowlin, sisters; Sharon Nowlin, Vanessa (Anthony) Westberry, Roslyn (Irvin) Payne all of Winston Salem North Carolina and a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A viewing will be held from 5:00pm until 7:00pm Friday, January 28, 2022 at The Trinity Center of Winston Salem.
Funeral Services celebrating Penny’s life will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday, January 29, 2022 at The Trinity Center of Winston-Salem, 5307 Peters Creek Parkway Winston-Salem, NC 27127. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens.
