Antonio Canty Obituary

In Loving Memory of Antonio Herhsel Canty

January 27, 1963 – August 29, 2025

Antonio Herhsel Canty, 62, of Winston-Salem, NC, departed this life on August 29, 2025, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, gaining his heavenly wings.

Born on January 27, 1963, to Larman Harton and Reverend Barbara C. Jarrett, Antonio was a proud graduate of Parkland High School, Class of 1982. He later pursued culinary training through the Job Corps program, where he discovered a lifelong passion for cooking. Most recently, he served as a dedicated member of the cafeteria staff at WSFCS, where he was known for both his skills in the kitchen and his vibrant personality.

Antonio was preceded in death by his beloved stepfather, James Jarrett, and his grandmother, Guster M. Black. He leaves behind a loving family who cherished him deeply: his mother, Reverend Barbara C. Jarrett; his sister, Vanessa C. Caldwell (Richard); and four nephews whom he adored — Rodriguiez N. Bethea (Jeanylynn), Lemonte D. Bethea (Deandra), Frederick M. Green III (Sumayyah), and Joshua R. Caldwell (Delisha).

He is also remembered fondly by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless loved ones whose lives he touched with his laughter, warmth, and generous spirit.

Antonio was truly the life of the party — a bright light who brought joy wherever he went. He believed in living life to the fullest and encouraged those around him to do the same. His memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
